“I am pleased to offer my wholehearted recommendation for Chris Merker as a candidate for the school board. Having had the privilege of knowing Chris for many years, I can confidently say that his exceptional skills in financial management, strategic planning, and rational decision-making will be invaluable assets to our school board.
What really makes Chris unique is not only is he an alumnae of WSD and has two daughters in the school district now, but he also has a remarkable depth of financial acumen that is rare to find. He has a proven track record of navigating complex budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring financial transparency, as shown in his 20+ year career at both Baird and co-directing the Sustainable Finance and Business program at Marquette University. His ability to analyze financial data with precision and identify cost-effective solutions will be critical in managing the district’s resources efficiently, especially in the current and future financial climate of the Wauwatosa School District.
Beyond his financial expertise, Chris is a highly rational thinker who approaches every challenge with clear-headed logic and objectivity. He excels at analyzing situations from multiple angles, considering all relevant factors, and making decisions based on sound reasoning. This trait will undoubtedly enable him to make fair, well-informed choices for the benefit of the students, teachers, and community as a whole.
Chris is also a strong strategic planner, always thinking ahead and anticipating future needs. He has a natural ability to assess long-term goals and craft actionable plans to achieve them. His strategic mindset, combined with his financial skills, makes him well-equipped to help the district achieve sustainable growth, improve educational outcomes, and create opportunities for innovation.
Chris Merker is an outstanding candidate for the school board. His combination of financial expertise, rational thinking, and strategic foresight will allow him to contribute meaningfully to the continued success and development of our schools. I have no doubt that he will make a positive impact on the district and work tirelessly to serve the best interests of all neighborhoods of East AND West Wauwatosa.”
